Living by Values!
Everyone has values.  Although from some of the programs on television nowadays, just what those values are is a question.
Recently I read a great book by Ken Blanchard, Managing by Values, that is written for business people primarily, but the life applications I got out of it were equally beneficial to anything I discovered on the business front.
By committing to a common purpose and shared values, any family can adopt a way of living out life that allows all those who the family impacts to WIN! One of the things many parents regret is not helping their children earlier in life lay out a life plan centered around certain core principles.  Sure, many parents did and still do parent around a set of values like, always be honest and always give your best, but tying this in to a WRITTEN life plan early I believe would be better than good.
Most everyone reading this has some sort of vision for their life; What ...

Moms and Halloween!
It's creepy and it's kooky -- and it's Mom's favorite low-stress holiday! According to mom after mom, those infamous "big name" holidays—you know which ones we mean—are sometimes more headache than highlight. The pressure! The presents! The out-of-town guests or out-of-town travel, the cooking and cleaning, the expense! But Halloween—that's a different story. More than two-thirds of Mom’s are involved in celebrating with their families.
What I love best about Halloween ...

In case you aren’t sure of the title… it's Labor Day. The Backwards Holiday. Every year when it rolls around I wonder why it’s named Labor Day. Since it’s a Holiday intended to be just that, a Holiday – I would think a better name may be Relax Day or Lazy Day or Off Day or Sleep in Day, maybe even Do-Nothing Day, something other than Labor Day.  After all, we know what Labor means.  And many will likely be celebrating Labor Day by Laboring.

Boy… It’s hot, and not just outside.

You don't have to be a weather person to predict the weather this time of year.  We all know… it's the hottest time of the year.  But that’s not all that’s hot.  The economy is red hot too.  By all measures the best economy in almost 20 years. This is GOOD for most reading this, but there will be some exceptions.  There always are.  An example could be someone will sell a house and make out great, meaning a buyer pays a bit more than they would have not too long ago.  And in some areas, the opposite happens.  Seller does not make out that great, but the buyer does.  Most know this and will hold back on buying or selling.  That will of ...

The Power of the Other
People have a startling effect on you.  Parents know this.  Most will fight to keep their child from associating with those they believe exhibit bad behavior. So much so they are willing to pack up their entire house and move across town or to another state, even country. They know their child’s well-being and future is at stake. Association WILL impact their child’s development. But for whatever reason, many of those same parents, and most people in general, don't recognize the significance others impact their own life.
Let’s say I want to be a great leader. I should go hang out with and learn from great leaders.  How about I need to lose some weight? Well, I can shed it much easier and faster going to the gym vs working out at home. Even faster and more permanent, I cement better dietary habits if I go to the gym, have a personal trainer and associate with others already living out a health ...
